Overview
Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that is a major public
health threat globally. It is caused by the dengue virus (DENV, 1–4 serotypes),
which is one of the most important arboviruses in tropical and subtropical
regions. Since the mid -1990s epidemic of dengue have become more frequent in
India. The total number of dengue cases has increased since 2001. In addition
to the increase in the number of cases, a shift to geographical reason has been also
observed. Earlier Dengue was found in urban areas only but it has shifted to
rural areas too. Major causes of increases in cases are because of unplanned
urbanization.

Symptoms of Dengue fever:
Symptoms usually begin 4 to 6 days after infection and last
up to 10 days, which may include,

Sudden/high fever

Severe pain
·
Pain behind the eyes
·
Fatigue
·
Joint Pain
·
Nausea
·
Skin rashes etc.
Treatment of Dengue Fever:
No specific treatment for dengue
fever exists. The doctor may recommend that to drink plenty of fluids to avoid
dehydration from vomiting and a high fever.
